reXtore was engaged by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Singapore designing and building a highly sustainable pagoda for a community garden in an HDB estate in Bukit Batok, Singapore.
Sustainability Credentials:
-
The frame is constructed using scaffolding off-cuts and wood from managed forests, ensuring responsible resource utilization. Moreover, the pagoda can be easily dismantled with just a spanner, offering the possibility of repurposing it at the end of its lifecycle.
-
The roof sheets are crafted from recycled tetra Pac drinking boxes, promoting waste reduction.
-
Rainwater is harvested from the roof into large tanks, enabling its use for watering the garden, promoting sustainable water practices.
-
Solar panels power all the garden's electrical needs, including pond pumps, fans, and lighting, harnessing clean and renewable energy.
-
Pre-loved furniture within the garden is carefully sourced and repaired, creating cozy seating and dining areas that foster sustainability and community spirit.
