Overview

The Banyan Tree is passionate about sustainability from their hotels to spa products. They engaged reXtore to help design and build highly circular and sustainable fixtures to launch their range of health and beauty products into the Travel Retail sector.

GOAL:

To develop from scratch a range of fixtures that were on Brand whilst having minimal impact on our environment.

THE ISSUE:

What’s the issue with current Furniture Materials?
The majority of materials used in interior fit outs and furniture production are made from non-sustainable resources, contain highly toxic chemicals, contribute to CO2 emissions and are non-recyclable, non-reusable, non-compostable or biodegradable.

SOLUTIONS (Sustainable Materials):

  • We designed and built the fixtures to be sustainable and circular using alternative materials. Some of these are listed below:
ECO Board. Eco-Friendly, Sustainable and 100% Circular
ECO Board is made from waste fiber, water, and heat.
ECO Board is a replacement for MDF, Fibre board and Plywood, which is used to manufacture 95% of fixtures.

  • Eco Paint
We are able to provide high-quality paint made from food waste including grape skins and corn husks. The paint has one of the lowest VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) ratings of any paint available. The paint can be tinted to any colour and gloss level.
